  • Find Your Ancestors Series

    Our popular Find Your Ancestors Series is back next month. This genealogy series takes place one Saturday a month. Check out the scheduled events below. 

    Using Maps in Genealogy
    Saturday, November 3 | 2:00 pm
    Join us as researcher Susan Fassbender teaches us how to use Sanborn Insurance Maps and Google Earth to help trace your family tree.

    Writing Biographical Sketches
    Saturday, December 8 | 2:00 pm
    Lori Bessler, Reference Librarian at the Wisconsin Historical Society, will teach us how to turn our genealogy research into stories to pass down to future generations.

  • Library School Scholarship

    The Friends of the Appleton Public Library / F.P. Young Scholarship, awarded by the Appleton Public Library Board of Trustees, will be given to a graduate Library Science student in January 2019. One scholarship of $1500 will be awarded. Scholarship award criteria is available in the policy, below.

    Please note the closing date for the applications is November 30, 2018 at 5:00 p.m. and a transcript or certification of satisfactory progress must be included with the application.

    After Barbara (Davis) and Adam Maitland (Baldwin) die in a car accident, they find themselves stuck haunting their country residence, unable to leave the house. When the unbearable Deetzes (O'Hara and Jones) and teen daughter Lydia (Ryder) buy the home, the Maitlands attempt to scare them away without success.

  • A Library of Local Music

    Love music? Then we have something for you! We’re excited to announce our newest service, FlipSide. FlipSide will bring together a collection of local, original music from a variety of genres. Music will be available for streaming or downloading with your InfoSoup library card beginning early December. 

    Wondering what the service will look like? Check out BoomBox out of Nashville for an example.

  • Artist-in-Residence

    We're excited to announce our latest artist-in-residence, Jeffrey Zdrale. Jeffrey is a self-taught artist who specializes in watercolor and oil paintings.

    Jeffrey's art will be on display in our lower level gallery from October 1 to December 28. Jeffrey will also offer special classes and workshops throughout October, November and December. Check out the schedule below.

    Wednesday, October 10 | 1:30-3:00 pm - Put Some Light on the Subject
    Using his paintings, Jeffrey Zdrale will walk us through the process of selecting a subject, laying out the first draft and completing a finished painting. 

  • 2018 Fox Cities Book Festival

    The 2018 Fox Cities Book Festival kicks off Monday, October 8 with events all over the community. This year's festival offers over 60 events and 50 authors from all genres. We are excited to host eight events this year. See our full schedule below:
