How I hate the ceiling

I am scared it will fall on me.
What if one does fall on me.
AHHHHHHH!

Get it off

Winning Poems for students in Grades 3 - 4

Sammi S.
Grade 3

"Remember"

Remember:
A fish is not a dish.
It is a creature with a wish.
If I was a fish
I would wish to not end
on somebodys dish.

Jesús M.
Grade 4

"My Great - Grandma"

My great grandma
I know she's going to die someday.
But I still am going to remember her.
She shows me a lot of things,
Like everyone is rich.
But I respond
We are not rich
Because we don't have much money.
No she tells me.
Rich is about your family
You have me, alive
Your grandma
Your grandpa
Your parents
And your uncles
That's rich!
Now I know my great grandma is
GREAT!

Kayla P.
Grade 4

"A Jump To Spring"

In Spring
Birds fly back
Fluttering their wings through golden valleys
Of dead grass from Winter blows.
Animals wake up from Hibernation.
And when the grass waves
"Hello" to the passing wind.
They are blessed with green for they are brown.
At the end of the day
Summer peers behind the last
Cloud planning what it will do for
Its Season

Winning Poems for students in Grades 5 - 6

Andrew B.
Grade 6

"Stairs"

Alarm ringing,
Mom singing,
I get out of bed,
Running, running,
down the stairs,
to be confronted,
by big bears.
Running, running,
up the stairs,
back to bed
set the alarm.

Emma A.
Grade 6

"Someday"

Someday I'll be a river,
with a golden sandy floor.
Rush along the riverbanks,
Down waterfalls I'll pour.

Someday I'll be a lion,
Shake my mane and roar.
And I will run swift as the wind,
Run from the days of yore.

Someday I'll set my spirit free,
Let it out to soar,
Gravity will pull me down
But I'll just rise up more.

Grace S.
Grade 5

"Our Environment"

Our environment was beautiful,
Our environment was neat.
But now it has been turned into pavements and streets.
People polute with bottles and cans,
and bearly anyone is willing to lend a helping hand.
People don't care if they plow the last tree,
as long as it has been replaced with a mall or bowling alley.
So my message for you is to help clean up our land,
clean up our forests and beaches,
and pick up every single can.

Honorable Mention

Kate S.
Grade 2

"Summer"

Summer is cool
I like to swim in the pool
Summer is fun
I like to play in the sun
when it is hot I like to sit in a shady spot
I sit by the stream
so I can lay there and dream about the next summer

Anna D.
Grade 2

"Trees"

Oh those ugly fat trees.
They get in my way when I am playing tag with my friends.
They grow leaves that fall om my head.
And I hate the sound that the trunks make when you cut them down.

.

"Claire K."
Grade 3

"Midnight Sound"

At night I stay awake:
For I hear a sound that makes me shake.
The sound is so scary I'm glued to my bed.
Is it something outside
or is it all in my head?
So I'm going to get my coat and run outside.
I open the door and run,
and I jump in a bush and hide.
I peek up to my window up high
and guess what I see?
A branch hitting the window from the sycamore tree.

Madeline F.
Grade 3

"When You Look at the Sky"

When you look at the sky,
you see a piece of blue paper
with white cotton balls
plastered against it and a gold ribbon
melted into a round ball as the sun.
A bird made of many colors and feathers.
The bird flys around the gold ball
as you look at the sky.

Iphigenia K..
Grade 5

"Greece"

The Palm Trees
so tall and
Beautiful.
The Ocean.
so clean and
Glistening.
The People
so friendly
and helping.
Exáda

Amber G..
Grade 6

"The Best NBA Finals"

Everybody shootin' threes on the court.
All wearin' team colored shorts.
LeBron's fakin' everybody out.
The other team's losing they're all in a pout.
The ball's bouncin' low.
While the other team's defence is slow.
Sweat drippin' down LeBron's face.
But that won't change his pace.
LeBron shoots the three for the win.
All the fans are in a grin.
