Storyvine
- Every Wednesday morning at 10:00 a.m.
in the months of October and November.
- Summer Session on Wednesday mornings in July at 9:30 & 10:00 am.
- A series of storytimes for all children in daycare settings
- Hear stories (3 - 4 books), do an activity to music, experience
fingerplays, see flannelboard stories, and watch a video.
- Watch library staff model presentation techniques.
- Create your own early literacy suitcase.
- At each Storyvine session, you'll receive several handouts to pack away in your suitcase.
- Come to collect terrific idea sheets, check out books, play
on the preschool computers, and enjoy an enriching literacy
experience.
- No registration required.

- We encourage all students to get a library card and check out books.
- This program is available September through March.

| First Grade Celebrate |
- Celebrate learning to read at the Appleton Public Library!
- The first grade teachers and their students are the guests of honor and the focus of our festivities.
- No one knows better than you the struggle and delight learning to read can be!
- It is an accomplishment and the library wishes to celebrate the new readers, introduce them to the Appleton Public Library's Children's Services and encourage both summer and lifelong reading habits.
- The climax will be the presentation of new library cards, with cheers for the new readers and for all of us who are interested in nuturing a love for reading.
- Plan to attend an hour during the spring of the year in April and May for this very special program.
- Staff will highlight the appropriate collections for these new young readers.
- Program is free

Second grade students are rminded of the proper ways to care for books and are introduced to new books they might enjoy, |

Sudents are encouraged to get library cards and check out books from this free program. |

Book Character Bash |
- Join the Appleton Public Library Children's Services Section to meet classic book characters and new book characters.
- You may meet these characters via:
Booktalks
Reader's Theatre
Logic
Physical Challenges
Storytelling with props and puppets
Students sharing their favorite characters
Music
- Important Details:
Students will be encouraged to get library
cards
Students may choose to check out books from the program
Teachers may request a tour of the children's
section

For Fourth Grade Students:
Wisconsin Heritage: The Pioneering Experience |
- A special program at your school or at the library based on the life of pioneers and their travel.
- An outreach visit for schools with an Appleton address.
- This free educational program offers a glimpse into Wisconsin's past and will include a discussion with titles available on the pioneering experience.
- Students will be able to look at maps, photographs, and handicrafts of Wisconsin from past to present.
- There will be trivia and booktalks about Wisconsin literature.

- Invite a librarian to read with your students, preferably in the school's media center/library.
- Wisconsin Heritage is for 4th Grade
- Schedule a program during the school year.
