I Can Use the Library!
For first grade classrooms

In this high energy, interactive program, we
Read great stories
Tour the library
Do a scavenger hunt
This free program is educational and fun for the students.
We encourage all students to get a library card and check out books.
  This program is available September through March. First Grade Celebrate is available in April and May.  
     

First Grade Celebrate!
  • Celebrate learning to read at the Appleton Public Library!
  • This free program lasts 60-90 minutes and allows your students to get their very own library card!
  • Available in April and May!
     

 

 

 

Join the Appleton Library Children's Services Section to meet classic book characters and new book characters.

Infosoup Research Trip!
A free program for 5th and 6th Grade Students
What is an Infosoup Research Trip?

A two part program:

  • Part One, School Age Librarian Ellen Jepson stops by your classroom* to visit the students and teach them to use Infosoup, the Library's online catalog.
  • Part Two, the students visit the library and test their Infosoup skills by researching a topic they are either assigned or find interesting.
Students are encouraged to get library cards and check out books after the program has concluded.
*in classroom program only available for schools with an Appleton address.

Mad About Music

 

 

 

Invite Children's Librarian Ellen Jepson to your classroom* for a program all about storytelling using music.
This 30 minute program may include:
Rhythmic books
Books for singing along
Instruments such as the Autoharp
Musical fingerplays
Music on CD
Lots of singing and moving!

Your second grade students are invited to become:
Friends of Books
A 30 minute storytime for second grade students.
Ellen Jepson, Children's Librarian, will come to your classroom* to share picture books, easy readers and beginning chapter books with your students,
Celebrate your students' love for books!

Wisconsin Heritage:
The Pioneering Experience

 
Library staff will present a program for fourth grade students in your classroom* at school or at the Appleton Public Library.

  • Maps and photographs
  • Stories about Wisconsin pioneers from popular literature.
  • Hands-on opportunities to use replica pioneer objects.

Storyvine

 
  • A storytime for Children in Daycare settings.
  • Come for books, music, fingerplays, and a short animated story.
  • Wednesdays in March (starts 3/3/10); April;
    May (ends 5/26/10)
  • 10:00 - 10:30 am
  • Registration not necessary*
  Special Storyvines!  
 
  • Wednesday, April 7th - Love My Library Storyvine - Books all about libraries.
  • 11:00 am Program available both dates.
