Book Babies
For Prewalkers
Monday mornings
9:00 am to 9:35 am
September 14 - December 21

  • A 20 minute program designed for babies not yet walking.
  • This lapsit is designed to stimulate your baby's senses and promote early literacy techniques.
  • We will bounce baby to rhymes, share stories, tickle baby, sing songs, and have 15 minutes of social play time afterwards.
  • Participation in the story time is necessary to take part in playtime.
  • Siblings welcome

Reading Rabbits
For New Walkers to 23 Months
Monday mornings
10:00 am to 10:40 am
September 14 - December 21

  • An early literacy experience designed for babies that are new walkers.
  • This 25 minute story time will provide your active toddler with some lapsit time, as well as more opportunities to work on their motor skills and cognitive development.
  • Join us after for 15 minutes of play time.
  • Participation in the story time is necessary to take part in playtime.
  • Siblings welcome

Story Sprouts
For children 24 to 35 months
Monday mornings
11:00 am to 11:45 am
September 14 - December 21

  • An early literacy experience designed to prepare children for preschool experiences.
  • The 30 minute story time will provide more complex stories, fingerplays, songs, and opportunities for individual recognition and turn taking.
  • Join us after for 15 minutes of play time.
  • Participation in the story time is necessary to take part in playtime.
  • Siblings welcome

Preschool Tales
For children ages 3-5
Friday mornings 9:30 am to 10:00 am
September 18 - December 18

  • An early literacy experience designed to help your child experience and transiton into kindergarten.
  • The story time will include more comprehensive stories and will provide caregivers with the foundation to encourage more dialogic reading and phonemic awareness activities.
  • Each week we will focus on the six early literacy skills and work on building an alphabet scrapbook throughout the year.

Family Story Bag
For children of all ages
Friday mornings
10:15 am to 10:45 am
September 18 - December 18

  • This 30 minute program is designed for a wide range of developmental abilities.
  • It features a variety of stories, fingerplays, music and movement, dramatic play, activities, media and more!
  • No registration is necessary.
  • Come see what's in the Story Bag!

Musical Movin' Storytime
For children ages 3-5
8 Tuesday mornings
9:15 and 10:15 am
October 6 - November 24

  • This 45- minute story time features a variety of music and movement activities for children and their parents or caregivers.
  • Sing, move, dance, explore musical instruments - even make some!
  • Have fun while helping your child develop language, literacy, listening and motor skills.
  • Siblings are welcome.
  • Required registration begins September 8.

A Shower of Babies @ Your Library
Thursday, October 15, 2009
6:30 pm to 7:15 pm

  • Early literacy begins at birth, so join us at the Appleton Public Library to learn about early literacy techniques.
  • Explore a sampling of the programs we offer to babies and learn about the wonderful materials and services we offer in the children's room.
  • This informational presentation will provide you with handouts on early literacy, reading guides and suggested reading for children, and a small gift.
