On My Own!
Thursday Mornings & Afternoons
September 17 through December 10
10;00 a.m. & 1:00 p.m.

- Fun and educational independent classes for 4 and 5 year
old children.
- Children must be able to attend the program by his/herself.
- Caregivers are required to stay in the building during the
program.
- Both programs last 13 weeks and children may join the classes at any time.
- Classes begin September 17 and end December 10. No class held on November 26.
- Each child is encouaged to get his/her own library card and
check out books from the program.
- Registration is required and limited.
- Register for one class only.
- Registration begins September 8, 2009.

Each week focuses on two letters of the alphabet.
Each week includes books, letter writing practice, singing time, movement to music, instruments, imagination activities, and a craft.

Kids Reading to Canines
Saturday mornings
(12/5, 1/9, 2/6, 3/6, & 4/10)
10:00 - 11:30 am
- This program offers children an opportunity to
read to certified therapy dogs.
- These furry friends will listen while children practice their
reading skills in a relaxed environment.
- The dogs are certified therapy dogs
and their handlers are carefully screened to provide a safe, fun
experience for children involved in the program.
- All volunteer dogs are certified through Therapy Dogs international
and must meet stringent temperament, obedience, and health requirements.
- Program will be held in the children's programming rooms.
- Advanced registration is required and limited.
- Sponsored by the Fox Valley Humane Association and the Appleton
Public Library.

Afternoon Activities
- Don't be bored on your days off from school!
- Hang out at the library and enjoy movies on the big screen, crafts, board games, and possible scavenger hunts or activity guides.
- Activities are intended for school-age children. Younger children may participate if accompanied by an adult
- Most movies start at 1:30.
- All movies are subject to change.
- Free Popcorn at every movie

- For children in 3rd grade and up.
- Registration required and limited.
- Registration begins November 16th.
1:30 pm - Movie "The Princess Diaries"

Monday, December 28th
9:30 am - Apples to Apples Game
- Game is recommended for age 7 and up.
- Children should be able to read independently.
- Registration required and limited.
- Registration begins December 14th,
1:30 pm - Movie "Santa Buddies"

Tuesday, December 29th
9:30 am - Scavenger Hunt
- For all school age children.
- No registration required.
1:30 pm - Movie "Hannah Montana: the Movie"

9:30 am - Miniature Star Books
- For children in 3rd grade and up.
- Registration required and limited.
- Registration begins December 14th.
1:30 pm - Movie "Pokemon Heroes"
